Description
Prof. M. N. Karassery explores the distresses and dilemmas
faced by Muslim women—not just due to polygamy
(which has become rare in Kerala), but also due to the
possessive arrogance and patriarchal authority often exercised
by husbands. Sadly, many self-styled popular Muslim leaders
publicly support such attitudes and even advocate
a return to polygamy for absurd reasons, such as menstruation,
during which sexual relations are to be avoided.
